Canadian Solar – Points of difference

Canadian Solar produces various solar modules, ranging in size from small scale 50W cells that can be used to recharge small scale electronics to 300W cells for residential and commercial projects. The company deploys both poly-crystalline and mono-crystalline technology in the development of their solar panels. Canadian Solar cells  are tested and electronically matched prior to interconnection.

All of the company’s products are manufactured to international quality standards, backed by IEC, TUV, UL, certifications, this includes ISO: TS16949, an automotive quality management system that has stricter standards than the more widely known ISO 9001. Canadian Solar operates its own ISO 17025 (this specifies the general requirements for the competence to carry out tests and/or calibrations, including sampling) accredited testing lab.

The Canadian Solar range also includes back contact ELPS panels with efficiencies over 21%. These are manufactured with the EVA layers and UV/weather/dielectric resistance back sheet encapsulated between high-transmission special tempered glass. The company believes that this gives their module ‘excellent durability under harsh outdoor conditions’. The size of the modules have been reduced by optimising the distance between the edge of the frame and the cell circuitry while ensuring the weatherproof sealing is still intact.
