National Solar Schools Program

Ask Solar Choice to help your secondary or primary school obtain a government solar energy grant for a solar energy installation anywhere in Australia.

What is the National Solar Schools Program (NSSP)?

Every primary and secondary school in Australia (whether government or private) is eligible for grants of up to $50,000 for the installation of a solar energy system with at least 2kilowatt capacity, as well as other green installations.

Educational institutions that are not eligible for a solar grant include kindergartens, early childhood centres, pre-schools, TAFE colleges and universities.

What are the deadlines and time-line for the National Solar Schools Program in 2011-2012?

The scheme has a budget allocation of $24.04 million for the 2011-2012 financial year. Applications for new registrations for the 2011/2012 have now closed. Applications will be assessed October-November, and grants will be announced in late 2011.

Solar Choice will post the key dates for the next round of NSSP funding when details become available. Please visit our site again or follow us on Twitter.

How is the solar grant paid?

The Federal Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts will pay your school directly prior to the commencement of any installation.

The funding process is streamlined and entirely non-competitive. Applications are completed online.

The program was to be in operation until 30 June 2015, but it's closure has now been brought forward to 30 June 2013.

How can Solar Choice help your school obtain the grant?

All schools applying for the grant are required to list a range of quotes from accredited solar energy installers.

Solar Choice can provide a free, immediate and informative Solar Quote Comparison for 2kW, 3kW, 5kW and 10kW options, for up to 6 installers wherever your School is in Australia.

And because Solar Choice can arrange a better price than if your school dealt with the installer direct, the grant money goes further and may be applied to additional green installations that are eligible under the NSSP.
