How long have you been in operation?
The idea was first conceived in August 2007. At that stage the federal government (Liberal had reduced the solar grant from $8,000 to $4,000). From the initial thought was the investigation into the feasibility of a solar design business. Since that time until now it has taken many hours working in my spare time doing market research, looking into products to use and working on the business model. Operating as a business began early in 2010.
What is your background?
My training was with the second largest renewable energy business in Australia. My role was as a technical officer in the electrical engineering laboratories on high voltage protection systems 11,000 up to 220,000 volts. I completed an Associate Diploma of Electrical Engineering (Power engineering) and then completed the Communication Engineering stream as well. Over 55 subjects in total of over 3,000 hours of class/study time.
Why the name Sunvest?
When looking at other solar businesses we found that every solar energy websites advertise how much they sell their products for and they brands they use. However it was not clear how much money would be saved (and still isn't!) and what the return on investment would be. Secondly there are opportunities for land holders, farmers to earn income from investing in solar electricity energy generation. So Sunvest is a truncation of sunshine investment and sunshine harvest.
What is your differentiation in the market?
We will make it clear what your return on investment will be. We believe that a yearly ROI of 12.5% and above sells itself. Products of an excellent quality coupled with an installation performed correctly then the customer has a very good long term investment. Much better than a term deposit.
