EV Charger Grants in Adelaide, Australia

South Australia is promoting electric vehicle (EV) adoption by offering a $3,000 subsidy and a 3-year registration fee exemption for new battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles registered from 28 October 2021 to 30 June 2025, with a price cap of $68,750 (inclusive of GST). 

As of November 2023, 5,000 subsidies remain. 

These incentives, part of the state’s Electric Vehicle Action Plan, are available to individuals (one per person) and businesses (up to two per business) in South Australia. 

The subsidy applies to new vehicles only, excluding used and plug-in hybrid vehicles. 

Recipients get a rebate on the first year’s registration charge as part of the subsidy application, with the subsequent two years’ exemption provided during the registration renewal process, without needing additional applications.
