Key Features of Smappee EV Chargers

Energy Monitoring

The Smappee EV Charger goes beyond simply providing visibility and control over the EV Charger. The solution includes real-time energy monitoring of the home itself, allowing users to track and optimize their energy usage across their different appliances.

Solar Integration

Seamlessly integrates with solar panels, enabling users to charge their EV with solar energy, reducing reliance on the grid and saving on energy costs.

Remote Access

Start or stop charging sessions from anywhere, giving you the flexibility to take advantage of off-peak electricity rates or solar energy production.

Scheduled Charging

Set charging schedules to automatically charge your EV when it’s most convenient or cost-effective for you, such as during the night or when your solar panels are producing excess energy.

8 Metre Tethered Cable

The Smappee home EV Charger has the option of including a tethered 8 metre cable. If you are looking for a tethered solution with a long cable, Smappee is one of the longest we’ve seen on the market with most tethered cables being around 5 metres to 6 metres.

The Smappee App and Dashboard

The Smappee Mobile App is a central feature of the Smappee ecosystem, designed to give users complete control over their home charging experience. With its user-friendly interface, the app allows for real-time monitoring and management of your EV charging, ensuring that you can always access your charger’s full suite of smart features.

The Smappee App will keep you up to date with the charging status of your electric vehicle with customisable notifications.

Warranty & Service

Smappee offers a 2-year warranty on their EV Chargers which is set out in sections 8 and 9 of their general terms and conditions. The terms include the common exclusions for things like improper use and installation.

Most EV Chargers on the market come with a 2-year or 3-year warranty, so it would be nice to see a longer warranty from Smappee in the future and a premium-priced solution.

Without a local office, claiming a warranty or seeking technical support may entail correspondence with Smappee’s head office in Belgium. They do not have an Australian phone number on their website – only an email address for the Asia Pacific region.

Should I Buy a Smappee EV Charger?

The Smappee EV Charger is a great fit for customers who see value in a more holistic monitoring solution for their homes. The Smappee EV Charger includes a lot of market-leading functionality and meets all expectations from a technical standpoint.
