At a Glance: EvoHeat Heat Pump EVO270-E Scores 4.0 out of 5

Scoring is based on our heat pump scorecard which is consistently applied to each brand and heat pump on the Australian market.

$$$ Price: The EVO270-E typically falls in the $3,300–$4,100 price range, making it a mid-range option. It is eligible for government rebates due to its R290 refrigerant and energy efficiency performance.

  • 5/5 – Company Backing and Trustworthiness: EvoHeat is a well-established Australian brand with a strong presence, 15+ years in the market, physical offices, and a diversified product range beyond hot water systems (including pool heating and HVAC). This earns them the full score for backing.
  • 2/5 Warranty Offer: EvoHeat offers a 6-year tank warranty, 5-year compressor warranty, and 1-year parts and labour coverage. While industry standard, the limited labour coverage reduces the overall peace of mind.
  • 5/5 Customer Reviews: EvoHeat’s has limited customer feedback though it is largely positive. We strongly recommend independent research to verify customer experience with this product.
  • 4/5 Functionality: The EVO270-E includes WiFi connectivity (via optional app), a clear LCD controller, and multiple built-in heating schedules. However, its noise level is 46 dB, and we’re not sure of the testing conditions thus it exceeds the 45 dB quiet benchmark and may not be suitable for installation near bedrooms or living spaces. Heating power is excellent at 14.8 watts per litre, indicating strong hot water recovery times. This earns 4 out of 5 possible points in our scoring system.

EvoHeat Heat Pump Models Available in Australia

EvoHeat-315C

EvoHeat makes five hot water heat pumps. There are two sizes for homes — 150L and 270L — plus a 315L commercial unit. All are all-in-one systems. The tank and heat pump are one unit. All work with solar PV.

WiFi control costs extra on every model. It runs through the HiTemp app on iOS and Android. It is not included as standard.

EVO150 Series — 150L

The 150L suits homes with up to three people. It is the smallest unit EvoHeat makes. Good for apartments and tight spaces.

Two versions exist. The EVO150-1 uses R134a refrigerant. R134a has a high global warming potential and is being phased out across the industry. It also misses out on most government rebates. The EVO150-E uses R290 (propane). R290 has a global warming potential of 0.02. It qualifies for STCs, VEECs, the Victorian Solar Rebate, and NSW ESS rebates.

Both carry the same warranty: 6 years on the tank, 5 years on the compressor and parts, 1 year on labour. Victorian buyers purchasing after 1 July 2025 get 5 years of labour cover.

Buy the EVO150-E. The R134a model is still sold but the rebate gap makes the E version the better deal for almost everyone.

EVO270 Series — 270L

This is EvoHeat’s main product. It has been on the market the longest and has the widest installer support across Australia.

Two versions again. The EVO270-1 uses R134a and must be hard-wired by an electrician. It has a COP of 4.27, meaning 4.27kW of heat for every 1kW of power used. It suits up to six people. The EVO270-E launched in mid-2025. It uses R290, which opens up the full rebate stack. It also comes with a 10A plug so installation is simpler. COP is the same at 4.27.

Warranty is the same across both: 6-year tank, 5-year compressor and parts, 1-year labour. Victorian buyers get 5 years of labour on the EVO270-E if purchased after 1 July 2025.

On noise: different sources quote different dB figures for the 270L range. Check the spec sheet for your specific model before installing near a bedroom or living area.

The EVO270-E is the right call for most buyers. Better rebates, easier install, cleaner refrigerant. The EVO270-1 makes sense if hard-wiring is already planned and the plug adds nothing.

EVO315-C — 315L

The 315-C is a commercial unit. EvoHeat designed it for hotels, offices, and small hospitality venues. It puts out 10.8kW of heat and holds 315L.

Some large homes use it. That is fine. But two things to check first. One: it may not qualify for residential rebates in your state because of its commercial classification. Confirm with your installer before you buy. Two: the warranty is shorter than the residential models. Tank cover is 5 years, not 6. Parts are 5 years only if purchased after 1 July 2025. Labour is 1 year. It also uses R134a, so rebate eligibility is limited compared to the R290 models.

If your household genuinely needs more than 270L it is worth a look. Just go in with clear eyes on the rebate and warranty differences.

EvoHeat Warranty Information

EvoHeat provides a consistent and straightforward warranty policy across its residential and commercial heat pump models. Here’s how the warranty terms compare by model:

*Victorian customers purchasing the EVO150-E or EVO270-E after 1 July 2025 receive 5 years of labour cover.

All models include 5 years of coverage for the heat pump compressor, which is in line with industry norms but is not a standout by any means.

Pros and Cons of the EvoHeat EVO270-E

Pros

  • High Efficiency Performance – With 14.8W of heating power per litre, it outperforms many competitors on raw energy output.
  • R290 Refrigerant – Environmentally friendly and eligible for maximum STC and rebate claims.
  • Strong Brand Reputation – EvoHeat is a trusted, award-winning Australian brand with over 10 years of industry experience.
  • WiFi Ready + Smart Control – LCD controller with optional app-based monitoring and scheduling.
  • Multiple Timer Settings – Allows for 2+ programmable heating schedules per day for energy savings.

Cons

  • Louder Than Quiet Models – Noise level of 46 dB(A) fails the <45 dB quiet category and may not suit sensitive areas.
  • Labour Warranty Is Limited – Only 1 years of labour coverage compared to longer options from premium brands.
  • Mid-Range Price Without Premium Finish – Around $3,300–$4,100, but lacks premium exterior styling or insulation upgrades.
  • WiFi control costs extra on every model – App control is optional and may require an upgrade or additional cost.

Final Verdict on EvoHeat Heat Pumps

EvoHeat heat pumps, especially the EVO270-E, offer strong heating efficiency, smart control features, and are backed by a long-established Australian company. The system performs well in key areas such as energy output, scheduling flexibility, and environmental credentials with R290 refrigerant.

Customer feedback is limited but generally very positive, indicating a strong early reputation. However, the unit runs at 46 dB(A), which is slightly louder than ideal for placement near bedrooms or living areas. Labour warranty coverage is also limited to 1 years, which may be a negative when considering your long-term peace of mind.

Verdict:
EvoHeat is a solid mid-range option for homeowners looking for a well-featured and efficient hot water heat pump, provided noise sensitivity and labour warranty coverage are not deal-breakers. Remember, it’s best installed in areas where sound won’t be an issue.
