All good in the end.
Initial research indicated Unified to be a good company. Sales team excellent, took time to answer all of my 'due diligence' questions (and there were a lot!). Then Christmas break occurred and communication was woeful, by this time we had shortlisted the companies and signed with Unified. Days and weeks happened, no response to my contacts as to whether the company was on break, when system may be installed, nothing. We wondered if they had gone out of business! Then notified that installers would contact us, it didn't happen. Ten days later we received a promotional email from Unified and I wrote back promptly to explain why exactly we would not be recommending the company. From there things moved quickly, management oversaw the process. All finished now, but installers were casual and unprofessional in their communication and were not fluently English-speaking. Same for Inspector sent. Slightly worrying. But end product working well for first three days at this point.
Happy with the contractors who installed my system, however Unified energy were not great. 1. Site inspection time they offered was not possible and they said they will reschedule. 2 weeks later I had to call and follow up. After reschedule the site inspector was over 15 minutes early and I was not home. 2. Cost blew out after site inspection, add another 10%. Scissor lift and extra cabling required. They say there can be added cost after inspection, but $1,000 increase after already paying a deposit on original quote without knowing it would be that significant was a bit rough. 3. 2 weeks after site inspection I had to follow up again on when installation would begin. When they did call me back with a time they said it would be 1 day. So I booked the day off work and the day before they cancelled the timeslot. 4. Rescheduled a week later for again a 1 day installation for both solar and battery, took 2 days to complete so I needed another day off work unannounced. Work was getting annoyed with all this extra unplanned time off. 5. Finally, I was told to wait for my first electricity bill and it will say "SOLAR" on it, then I can compare companies for best deal. First bill was within a week of install, so I was not bothered. 1 month later new bill comes, still not registered as solar account. No feed in credit, being winter it wasn't a big deal, maybe missed out on $20. So I called up and they said there was a problem with AusNet. The next day I get an email from UNified with my meter upgrade paperwork submitted. Seems the AusNet excuse was a lie and they again failed in their administration. Sales guy did call back and follow up every occasion I called, disappointing how many times I had to chase them though. The system seems good and the contract installers were very good. If you want to have to follow up a company to do their job throughout the whole process, then by all means, go ahead and choose Unified. Otherwise, maybe choose someone else.
Solar Panel - Jinko
Seems good so far. It is winter, panels are producing electricity still after a month. Five stars for the first month.
Solar Inverter - Solis
Seems good so far after about 5 weeks. 5 stars for using 1 month. Though no problems so far.
Battery - Alpha ESS
No problem with battery. With mild use use the 5kw from full charge seems to last from 4pm until about 8am when there is no solar generation. That is not using high powered devices such as electric oven or multiple things such as heater computer and tv for long periods. The app that goes with it is good and easy to use. 5 stars for the first month of use
Process was made easy with good guidance. Could have been more upfront with advice on lack of network connection approvals. Actual installers worked well and cleanly.
