Diamond Energy helps ‘The Block’ to go green with solar & storage

The Block’s ninety year old soap factory is now a leading light in the renewable renovation revolution, and Diamond Energy is proud to be part of it.

The Logie-winning channel 9 renovation and design show, “The Block”, has chosen Diamond Energy to support renewable energy and move towards greener living. Julian Cress, Co-Creator and Executive Producer of The Block said “for the first time in Block history it was exciting to embrace the new world by combining 100% renewable energy for the build, the latest solar energy technology for The Block’s ongoing energy management.”

“We are proud to be the integral link, and the enabler that shows Australia’s households what is the future in home energy systems. The Block utilizes solar energy, solar powered batteries with future grid connected technology to enable its solar power system to be integrated into the Australian electricity market. The Block shows households how to generate, manage and control their electricity in one televised solution,” said Tony Sennitt, Managing Director, Diamond Energy.

The impressive renewable solution is being showcased at The Block’s 2016 Port Melbourne site where Diamond Energy is supplying 100% Greenpower through the build, from its own Greenpower accredited generators in Victoria. Experts have been drawn from the Diamond Energy network of solar installers and manufacturers to deliver a renewable solution that meets The Block’s immediate and future energy needs. Viewers can see that the renewable dream is now an achievable reality for homes and businesses.

The building’s common areas and rooftop garden need electricity for lighting, heating and pond filtration. This demand is met first by electricity generated by 4.578KW of state of the art SunPower solar panels with Maxeon cell technology , any daily excess is then stored in Solax Box 30KWh battery storage system. If the building needs power, when the sun isn’t shining, electricity can be drawn from the battery. Solar energy, solar powered batteries and the grid combine to meet demand, future proofed to enable remote monitoring and control capabilities if required. The old soap factory – now luxury apartments – can have a direct interface to the Australia’s electricity market through Diamond energy.

Block followers can look forward to seeing the renewable reality when the “roof top” is revealed later in the season. Tune in for a sneak peak of your future – and watch the video below to learn about how you can win a chance to be there in person.
