Precision carbide metal tool manufacturer ISCAR, the largest of the 15 companies comprising the IMC (International Metalworking Companies) Group, has had a 30kW solar PV system installed on the roof of its headquarters in Sydney’s Northwest Business park.
Solar Choice Commercial managed the tender for the project, ensuring that the company got the best possible deal on its installation and recommending the 30kW capacity based on ISCAR’s energy usage.
By conservative estimates, the system, which uses Trina solar panels and 2x 15kW SMA inverters, will offset approximately 28-30% of ISCAR’s total electricity consumption, saving the organisation $10,000-$11,500 on electricity costs annually.Solar Choice was initially approached by ISCAR in November 2013 but it was not until federal incentives for solar available through the Renewable Energy Target came under threat that they were spurred into action.
Although HVAC equipment on the building’s roof prompted concerns about partial shading throughout the day and year, detailed analysis was conducted to ensure the panels were strategically positioned to maximise overall system yield.
Solar Choice Commercial has managed tenders for a large number of projects in the 20-30kW range, including a 30kW system for the headquarters of the Post newspaper in Perth, 30kW at the Narromine Bowline Club in NSW, 30kW for Martindale Vineyard in the Hunter Valley, a 35kW system for the Macquarie Club in Dubbo, and a 40kW system for Complete Service Partners in Bathurst.
