Seam Electrical Solar and Battery installation

Seam Electrical Solar and Battery installed a solar panel array and battery system at my property in September 2025. I was impressed by Seam from my first interactions. After an initial site visit by Daniel Birch (their sales representative), Seam made a further visit (this time by Mark Birch, the proprietor) to discuss my requirements in detail. Seam were responsive to my follow-up enquiries and happily provided a modified quote when I decided to change the system configuration. After I accepted the quote, they advised dates for the installation (well within their quoted timeframe) and stuck to the dates even after bad weather forced the delay of other work. The installation itself was trouble-free and professionally done with a minimum of disruption. I was very happy with the final result, which looks fantastic and has been very cleanly finished. Mark got it up and running and showed me how everything worked. He was also happy to talk about my energy use and ways it could be reduced, including offering to use his FLIR camera to spot places in the house where heat may be leaking out. The electrical inspection went off without a hitch and the inspector commented on the professionalism and quality of the installation – which he said made his job incredibly easy. Although it has only been operating for a few days, the system is running well and the house has not used any power from the grid since it came online. I highly recommend Seam to anyone in South or West Gippsland considering the installation of a solar system.

Solar Panel - Jinko

5.00

The 45 Jinko 440W panels (JKM440N-54HL4R-B) look fantastic and appear robust and well-built. They have been very neatly installed on the roof in four groups with optimisers added to the group that will experience the most shading due to trees near the house. All the wiring has been fed through conduit hidden behind the panels and the penetration points on the roof have been well-sealed.

Solar Inverter - Sigenergy

4.00

The Sig Energy 10.0 SP AU inverter is integrated into the Sigen Energy Controller, which sits on top of the SigenStor battery stack. This fully integrated solution was the main reason for choosing this inverter. Although it has only been a few days since the system was installed, the inverter has been running well, with no issues encountered. I have taken a star off the rating for the following reasons: - the inverter only has a 5 year warranty, while competitor brands provide a 10 year warranty - the app, while excellent in terms of presentation and features, has poor documentation. While the poor documentation makes the app more difficult to master, it provides excellent information about how the system is operating, great data tracking, very accessible graphical presentation of the system components and a extensive range of features, including a lot of customisation options.

Battery - Sigenergy

4.00

The system has a stack of four SigenStor 8.0 BAT batteries, providing 8kWh each for a total capacity of 32kWh. The stack of batteries with the energy controller on top looks great. It has an LED strip up one side and an LED ring on the energy controller which can be set through the app to display various lighting effects (with adjustable brightness) but by default they show whether the batteries are charging or discharging and the current battery state of charge (all the batteries in the stack charge and discharge at the same rate at the same time). I have turned these lights off, as I don’t feel the need for my battery stack to put on a light show. Overall, I have been very happy with the battery performance and the stack has operated reliably and predictably so far with the app appearing to show very accurate information about the state of charge and the charging/discharging rate of the batteries. I have taken one star off the rating because, while the battery units themselves have good ingress protection, there is a cable channel that runs down the side of the battery stack which is open and accessible from the rear of the stack. As I live in a rural area, I am concerned about the potential for rodents or snakes to be attracted to nesting in this space, which is warm and protected. Rodent damage to wiring could easily compromise the entire system (see photos where I have removed the side cover to show the wiring cavity). For this reason, I am investing in the installation of a rodent-proof enclosure around the battery stack. This creates an added cost for peace of mind and is a drawback of the SigenStor design in locations where there are a lot of rodents or other small pest animals.
