Professional and helpful, excellent service
We are extremely satisfied with the service provided. Gabriel was highly professional and instrumental in guiding us toward a tailored battery solution for our previously installed solar system. His accommodation of our pre-Christmas installation timeline is greatly appreciated. The installation team was efficient, professional, and ensured minimal disruption. They facilitated the app setup process and maintained a clean work environment, exceeding expectations. Overall the installation looks very neat. It's early days, and I am hoping the battery performs as well as the supply and installation.
Battery - Sigenergy
The battery system is performing well so far and provides very detailed system status. It took a bit of time to get used to feeding in the tariff information but was fast when you get a hang of it. It's early days, so the SigAI hasn't kicked in yet. Would be good to be see how that performs.

Flexible, professional and responsive
Gabriel was flexible and responsive during the quoting process, and the subsequent installation was done professionally and with minimal fuss. The job was neat and well finished. There were some teething issues with commissioning that were outside their control but these were handled as promptly as possible. No hesitation in recommending SolarFit for others looking for a battery/solar installation.
Battery - Anker Solix
The slim profile, looks and hardware functions are excellent: no other brand comes close really. The modular system meant we could have a single stack with everything we needed, including a hybrid inverter. We chose to remove our old (Fronius) inverter and avoid AC-coupling and I’m quite stoked with the outcome: our panels peak over 7kW whereas before we were capped at 5kW by the inverter (and the grid export regulations that applied at the time) and we also only need to deal with one hardware and software ecosystem. The Anker commissioning process is still a bit raw. My installer spent quite a bit of time on the phone with Anker, and they seemed to forget that household power needs to be off for commissioning, meaning the WiFi router isn’t available. They worked it out eventually, but the installer had to return a couple of days after the install to sort it out. The software is attractive but seems to have a few bugs and ambiguities. For example, I disabled EV charging from the home battery (i.e. only charge the EV from PV or grid) but if you override the scheduled charging, it takes power from the home battery before the grid (i.e. treats it as a household load). I also set up smart charging but it didn’t kick in during my super-off-peak time as expected. Going to take a while to get used to I think. Third party software options are also limited. Anker has an API but it’s cloud based, and there doesn’t appear to be a Home Assistant integration yet (local or cloud).
EV Charger -
Hardware seems to work well but the software is disappointing. The EV charger support in the Anker app is a bit finicky and ambiguous . The start charging button in the app only appears briefly when you open the EV charger, so you have to tap quickly before it disappears. Same for stop. This might be because I have “smart” charging configured, but I would still expect the start and stop buttons to appear more permanently. The charging modes and how they interact with the X1 battery are also not obvious: the Anker documentation discusses all of the X1 modes, but there is only limited information on how they interact with the EV charger. I had hoped for better integration from a single-brand solution. The EV charger specs also indicate OCPP support, but the OCPP option in the app says “not supported in your firmware version” (I have the latest firmware). I will be looking to have the EV charger integrated with an Amber VPP plan, and the lack of an OCPP interface will make this difficult. I also had a few problems connecting to my car (BMW), which doesn’t like having the power cut off during charging (known issue that I also have with my 10A charger). Anker has a “keep awake” option to maintain the connection with the car which I am now using but haven’t yet confirmed that it works. It uses a little extra power (a few W). Not really an Anker issue, I don’t think, but notable.

Outstanding purchase and installation experience
My experience with Solar Fit was outstanding. I contacted several recommended installers and chose to go with Solar Fit because Gabriel was very patient and answered my many questions promptly and in a way that gave me confidence that I was picking the right system for me (AlphaESS) and the right installer. The actual installation was very neat. There is minimal cabling visible and the two battery stacks look great, standing parallel. The result is an exceptional looking set-up. There were some teething problems with the AlphaESS app in the first 24 hours but Solar Fit is coming back to reset the battery modules. The battery is charging and everything seems to be working as it is intended. Overall, I am very happy with my choice of battery and installer. They gave me the time and space to decide without any of the usual high pressure sales tricks some others use.

Battery - Alpha ESS
I chose Alpha ESS over the more popular Sigenergy option as it aligned better with my budget. Thus far, I am very satisfied with its performance. It delivers exactly what I needed—storing excess solar energy during the day and providing reliable power throughout the night. I am already noticing significant savings, which will accelerate my return on investment.
Virtual Power Plant - Amber
It’s still early days with Amber, but my experience so far has been excellent. The transfer from my previous retailer was completed within a single day, and my battery was integrated into SmartShift in just two days. Their app is intuitive, feature-rich, and provides a wealth of useful data. While the AI is still in the process of learning my energy usage patterns—a process that takes around 30 days—I am already very pleased with my decision to sign up with Amber.

We installed Solar Panels and Solar Battery at our home just last week using the services of Solar Fit Solutions. It was indeed a very pleasant experience from start to finish. Gabriel, the owner was very responsive from Day 1 and patiently answered all our questions (and being newbies to Solar Systems we had plenty of them!). The installation was started and completed on time as per what was promised to us when we placed the order.
