At a Glance: Anker Solix Batteries score 3.1 out of 5

Scoring is based on our solar battery scorecard, which is consistently applied to each brand and battery available on the Australian market. This scoring reflects Anker Solix’s residential battery products, including the X1 Home Energy Solution.

$$$ Price: Based on data from Solar Choice’s network of solar installers, the average price for an installed Anker Solix battery is $800 to $900 per usable kWh. This places it in our lowest-cost price category.

  • Company Backing and Trustworthiness (2 out of 5): Anker entered the Australian battery market in 2024, and while it is backed by a globally recognised consumer electronics brand. Being new to the market with limited presence reduces its score in this category.
  • Warranty Offer (1.5 out of 5): Anker Solix batteries include a throughput warranty of 2.8MWh per usable kWh, a 10-year product warranty, and a minimum capacity rating of 70% at the end of the warranty period. These specifications are standard but fall short of top-tier competitors.
  • Customer Reviews (5 out of 5): Anker Solix has received limited feedback so far, with a 3 verified reviews on Solar Choice’s independent platform. They have however been perfect with all being 5-star outcomes. This earns full marks, although we will update this once we’ve heard from more customers.
  • Functionality (4 out of 5): Anker Solix batteries score well for functionality. They are IP65 rated for outdoor use, modular and expandable, and support independent module control and monitoring, which prevents new modules from being degraded by older ones. However, they do not include built-in fire suppression, which slightly lowers their score.

Anker Battery Range and Options

Anker Solix x1 home battery image

Anker Solix currently have the X1 battery series available in Australia which was approved by the clean energy council in October 2024.

The battery is expandable in size in 5kWh increments through to a maximum of 30kWh. The battery comes with a 6kW inverter which means it can easily be retrofitted to any solar system via AC-coupling.

The 5kWh stackable battery modules use the popular Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) technology which is known for its stability and safety. After 3 x 5kWh battery modules additional modules will be added to a new stack that would sit side by side, but can run off the same battery management system and inverter.

The battery is IP65 rated which is good compared to many batteries in Australia, and means it can be installed indoors or outdoors. The battery has a sleek appearance and features and LCD screen so customers can easily see the current status of the battery without logging into the wifi app as most batteries require.

The battery comes with built in black out protection at no additional cost.

Anker Solix’s Warranty Offer For Australian Customers

Like most batteries on the Australian market, Anker Solix provides a 10 year manufacturers warranty which includes the batteries and the inverter/management system. This covers defects in materials and workmanship.

The battery also comes with a performance guarantee which states that the battery won’t lose more than 70% of its original usable capacity by the end of 10 years which is the common benchmark for tier 1 batteries. The performance guarantee will terminate sooner than 10 years if the battery discharges 14MWh per 5kWh battery module installed. This is referred to as the throughput limit and works out to be 2.8MWh per usable kWh which is lower than most of the tier 1 batteries.

Anker do have local support staff in Sydney to assist if things go wrong and the warranty page references a site in Scoresby VIC as well.

Pros and Cons of Anker Batteries

Pros:

  • Competitively priced at roughly $800 to $900 per kWh including installation
  • Battery is modular and scalable to 30kWh in a cost-effective way
  • User-friendly features: Anker has leveraged its consumer tech background to include a built-in display and LED status bar for quick info at a glance as well as being supported by their app.

Cons:

  • Anker Solix are a new player in the battery market with a short track record
  • Throughput warranty could be higher: Anker’s 10-year performance warranty is solid, but the energy throughput limit (~2,800–3,300 cycles) is a bit lower than some leading competitors
  • Power output per unit is moderate: The X1’s 6 kW continuous output (single-phase) is enough for most households, but will become a limitation if are looking to go big towards to their limit of 30kWh.

Conclusion – Are Anker Batteries a Good Option?

Anker Solix look to have built a battery that stacks up pretty well against the leading battery options in Australia. It even goes beyond the pack with its IP65 protection rating and the LCD display. The early feedback from customers has been positive.

The only point of caution is that the brand doesn’t have the same track record of manufacturing batteries as some of the major players. This is somewhat mitigated as Anker has a solid backing with local support in Australia and a competitive warranty policy.

This should mean that customers have some recourse if things go wrong.
