Background – Who is GoodWe?

Jiangsu GoodWe Power Supply Technology Co Ltd, founded in 2010 in Suzhou, China, and are primarily known as a manufacturer of solar inverters. The have typically provided a feature rich but lower cost option to some of the mainstream European brands.

GoodWe entered the solar battery market in 2021 with the first version of their Lynx home battery. They have since brought out newer models and different variations. Their batteries, like their inverters, are manufactured in their main factory in Suzhou, China.

Goodwe have operated a local office in Australia since 2012 and have a well established service model for Aussie customers.

How much does a GoodWe Battery Cost?

Based on quote information uploaded by Solar Choice’s pre-vetted network of reputable battery installers, the average cost of installing a GoodWe battery is $9,550 for their 10 kWh model including installation.

Average Installed Cost (excluding rebates)
Goodwe ESA Series 10kWh (usable)$9,550 (or $955 per kWh)

This places GoodWe in the lower price category in terms of price comparison. They are cheaper than premium options like Enphase or Senec, but more expensive than some other Chinese manufacturers like FOX-ESS or Solax.

Note that the federal battery rebate can be used to reduce the cost of installing a Goodwe battery in most residential applications. In the example above of a 10kWh battery, the rebate would be worth around $2,520 assuming installation after 1st May 2026.

GoodWe Battery – Range and Models

For residential customers, there are 3 main models to choose from. All of their batteries use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cell chemistry.

ESA Series (Flagship – launched 2026)

Goodwe battery esa series 5kW

GoodWe has introduced the ESA Series as its new flagship battery platform. The system is designed as an all-in-one energy storage solution, integrating the inverter, battery modules and energy management system into a single cabinet. This means it can easily be retrofitted to existing solar systems.

The battery has different configurations possible for single and three-phase connections:

  • Single-phase inverter capacity available from 3kw to 10kW. Can connect with stackable 5kWh (usable) or 8kWh battery modules up to a maximum capacity of 48kWh in one stack.
  • Three-phase inverter capacity available from 5kW to 30kW. This inverter can connect with various battery modules and each inverter can couple with a maximum of 108kWh.

Other Key specifications

  • Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery chemistry which is now the standard lithium chemistry across most major battery brands
  • 1C charge/discharge capability, meaning the battery can theoretically fully charge or discharge in about one hour, allowing it to respond quickly to solar production or electricity price changes.
  • Fast backup switching (<4 ms), which helps keep essential appliances running during blackouts.
  • IP66 enclosure rating, indicating strong resistance to dust and rain for outdoor installation.

Overall, the ESA series is a major improvement on GoodWe’s earlier battery series. We expect the battery to competitive with other leading modular battery systems in Australia.

Lynx Home F Series

Goodwe Lynx Home F Battery

The Lynx Home F Series is GoodWe’s high voltage battery solution with an operating voltage range of 273.6V ~ 345.6V for their LX F9.8-H model. Higher voltage batteries typically cost more than lower voltage batteries but offer faster charging and discharging rates. Their LX F9.8-H (Home F) model can be discharged or charged at 9.2kW while their equivalent Home U Series 2*LX U5.4-20 model can only discharge or charge at 5.12 kW.

This series is a stackable solution which is able to be stacked with battery capacity between 6.6 kWh and 16.5 kWh (usable).

The Lynx Home F Series can only be ground mounted and has a slightly lower environmental protection rating of IP55 which is still rated for outdoors.

This battery is compatible with GoodWe EH and ET inverters.

Lynx F G2 Series

GoodWe Lynx-F-G2 battery image

Like the Lynx Home F Series, the Lynx F G2 batteries are stackable, high voltage and appear very similar. The Lynx F G2 is compatible with GoodWe BH/EH/BT/ET inverters.

This solution however features their newer battery modules which are rated individually at 3.2 kWh. This battery comes with a minimum of 2 modules (6.4 kWh) and can extend all the way to 9 modules (28.8 kWh) in one tower.

This battery has a slightly improved warranty including a minimum cycle life of 4,000 cycles and a retention of 80% of its battery capacity after 10 years – read more in the warranty section below.

GoodWe’s Warranty for Australian Battery Customers

Solar batteries can come with a product warranty to protect against defects and a performance warranty to protect against degradation beyond certain parameters.

All of GoodWe’s different battery models come with a 10-year product warranty. This is broadly seen as the market standard for solar batteries, although you do see some models with a 5 year warranty, and at the time of writing only Enphase has a longer 15 year warranty.

GoodWe’s ESA Series, Lynx F, Lynx U and Lynx F G2 series all offer a guarantee the battery retains 70% of the nameplate capacity after 10 years.

Note that the newer ESA Series makes a big improvement on the throughput warranty which was lagging by the market in the old Lynx series.

Model NoUsable kWhMinimum Throughput Energy (MWh)
LX F 6.6-H6.5516.77 (2.56MWh per usable kWh)
LX U 5.4L4.812.42 (2.58MWh per usable kWh)
LX F6.4-H-206.416.4 (~2.56MWh per usable kWh)
GW5.1-BAT (ESA Series)518.25 (3.65MWh per usable kWh)
GW8.3-BAT (ESA Series)829.20 (3.65MWh per usable kWh)

GoodWe have chosen to include some tricky wording in the warranty coverage of transport and labour costs, which seems it all falls back to their discretion on whether its covered. Additionally GoodWe are not disclosing the rates and maximums they will cover for these items and instead state “please contact GOODWE for the rate”. This is not very pleasing for a customer to see.

However GoodWe do have a local office in Rowville, Melbourne and support team to assist with warranty enquiries. You can contact them via service.au@goodwe.com or 03 9118 3905.
