At a Glance: Ohme Home Pro EV Charger Scores 4 out of 5
Solar Choice has developed a transparent scorecard to evaluate all the EV Chargers available on the market.
Price: $$$$$: Ohme’s two residential models are priced on the lower end compared to the smart EV charger market. Pricing in Australia starts around $1,400 for the Home Pro (tethered 5m cable) and $1,200 for the ePod (untethered), excluding installation.
- Company Backing in Australia: Ohme have local support staff to support Australian customers and a listed office on Kent St in Sydney. The company has a long trading history dating back to 2017. We score Ohme 4 out of 5 for company backing.
- Warranty Offer: Ohme chargers come with a 3-year warranty, which is above the 2-year industry standard and on par with leading competitors. We score this 3 out of 5 for warranty coverage.
- Solar Compatibility: Both the Ohme Home Pro and ePod are compatible with solar power systems via a CT-clamp that is included in the cost. The chargers can divert excess solar into the EV when 0.7kW of surplus energy is available. This is best case scenario for solar integration and scores 5 out of 5.
- Functionality: The Ohme EV Charger is a featured packed option and includes dynamic load balancing via the CT-clamp. The Home Pro option also ticks the boxes of having a LCD screen, IP55 rating and an option for a 8m cable. The score of 4 out of 5 reflects the Home Pro model, while the ePod would have scored 1 out of 5.
Overall a score of 4 out of 5 is a great result for Ohme and earns them a spot in our best EV chargers list.

Key Features of Ohme EV Chargers
Smart Tariff Charging
One point of difference for Ohme’s chargers is that they have integrated with all the of the Australian electricity tariffs, including those from Amber and other VPP providers. The charger can automatically adjust charging to when electricity prices are lowest, helping reduce costs. Effectively you can plug in the car, let it know how much power you want in the battery at a specified time and it will charge your car in the cheapest way.
Solar Integration
Ohme can integrate with a solar system using CT clamps to detect when excess solar energy is being exported to the grid. The CT clamp is included in the box at no extra cost which is crucial as some brands can charge up to $600 for this clamp. This means that the Ohme Charger can integrate with any solar system regardless of what brand inverter has been installed.

Ohme App
The Ohme app offers full control and visibility of your charging schedule, electricity cost tracking, charger status, and smart tariff integration. The app has been developed and improved for over 8 years of use in European markets before being launched in Australia. The app scores 4.0 from over 3,000 reviews on Google play.
For Tesla owners, the Ohme App integrates with your car showing state of charge information along with the ability to pre-condition the cabin.

Warranty & Service Offer For Australian Customers
Most EV Chargers in Australia have a warranty between 1 and 5 years, with that vast majority offering a 2-year warranty. Ohme offers a 3-year parts and labour warranty for their chargers which is above average. Crucially the labour warranty coverage for minor repairs or parts replacements may be the majority of costs incurred as this covers the electricians time and call out fees.
Ohme have an Australian office and local support staff to assist with technical issues and warranty claims, although at present the only contact information on the warranty terms is their UK headquarters.
Ohme can be reached at (02) 8311 0097 and help.au@ohme-ev.com.

Our Verdict on Ohme’s EV Chargers
Ohme’s Home Pro and ePod are excellent mid-range EV chargers for households looking to take advantage of smart energy tariffs and solar. Ohme are an experienced EV charger manufacturer with a good track record and customer reputation in Europe (with a 4.5 rating from over 7,000 reviews on Trustpilot). The user-friendly app, OCPP support, and solar compatibility make these chargers well suited for energy-savvy EV owners.
The only drawback of the Ohme EV Chargers (which is also true of many of the other EV Charger brands) is that there are not a lot of customer reviews available from Australian customers.
The Home Pro looks to be the better model for most Australians with a better environmental protection rating and the built in LCD screen and tethered cable for convenience.
