At a Glance: Emerald Energy All-in-One Scores 4.25 out of 5
Price Mid-range — $$$ Whilest marketed as lower cost heat pumps Emerald heat pumps typically fall into the mid-range installed price category ($3,300–$4,100) under the Solar Choice scorecard.
- Company Backing & Trustworthiness — 4/5: Emerald Energy has operated in Australia since 2006 and maintains a local presence with an Australian dealer network. The company also offers products beyond heat pumps, including air conditioning and smart energy technology, which contributes to its maximum score in this category under the Solar Choice framework.
- Warranty Offer — 4/5: Emerald’s warranty now depends on the model. All-In-One Pro offers the strongest cover at 7 years tank, 5 years parts, and 5 years labour, while Select and Split sit at 5 years tank, 5 years parts, and 2 years labour. In practical terms, that puts Emerald ahead of many budget heat pump brands, but not at the very top end of the market across the full range.
- Customer Reviews — 5/5: Emerald heat pumps currently hold an average rating of 4.60 from 83 reviews on the Solar Choice review platform. Under the Solar Choice scorecard, ratings above 4.5 receive the maximum review score, placing Emerald in the top review tier.
- Functionality — 4/5: Emerald includes Wi-Fi control, an LCD display, and 3 programmable on/off timer schedules. The heat output exceeds 10W per litre in the 220L and 270L models, meeting our performance criteria, though the 320L falls slightly short at approximately 8.8 W/L. The units operate at 49 decibels in standard mode, which is above our <45 dBA benchmark.
Emerald Energy – Company Background
While Emerald is best known for its heat pump hot water systems, its product portfolio now extends into related energy technologies such as air conditioning and smart energy controls. For homeowners, this broader ecosystem can be relevant because it suggests the company is building a connected product platform rather than selling a single standalone appliance.
Emerald Energy Heat Pump Model and Range
Emerald currently offers three main residential heat pump ranges in Australia – All-In-One Select, All-In-One Pro and Split System – with All-In-One Ultra positioned as a premium tier above Pro.
For households, the choice is mainly about tank size, budget, warranty level, installation layout, and noise placement, plus whether you want a single all-in-one outdoor unit or a separate tank and outdoor unit (split).

How to read this as a homeowner
- All-In-One Select – the entry-level all-in-one with Wi-Fi and R290 refrigerant; lower upfront cost, tank sizes from 220–320L suit roughly 2–6 person households, depending on demand.
- All-In-One Pro – the step-up all-in-one based on the EE-HWS-A1 series, generally sold as Emerald’s “standard” integrated option with stronger warranty positioning and broader installer support than Select.
- All-In-One Ultra – a premium tier above Pro (270L and 320L) promoted with extended warranty; because model codes and full local docs aren’t yet widely published, availability and exact terms should be checked with your installer at quote stage.
- Split System – best where the tank needs to be indoors or tucked away and the outdoor unit can be positioned for better noise and layout management (e.g. away from bedroom windows or tight side setbacks).
Emerald Energy Split Systems

Key Features of Split Systems:
- Energy-Efficient Design: Microchannel heat exchanger in the tank for improved efficiency.
- Optional Built-In Electric Heater: Available for faster heating and continuous hot water supply in cold weather.
- Blue Diamond Enamel Tank: Smooth material surface, reducing dust adhesion.
- Anti-Legionella Function: Provides automatic or manual disinfection modes.
- Split System Design: Allows the water tank to be placed close to the usage point, with the outdoor unit positioned away from living areas to minimise noise impact.
Emerald Energy All-In-One Systems

Emerald Energy All In One Heat Pump Key Features
- DC Inverter Technology: Inverter technology is more efficient at heating water than the alternative induction approach which is used by many other heat pumps on the market.
- Wi-Fi Enabled: The heat pump can be controlled and configured via the Emerald app.
- Eco-Friendly Refrigerant: Uses R290 (Propane) refrigerant with a low Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 3. This is much better than some cheaper models on the market which use R134A refrigerant with a GWP 1,430.
- Silent Mode: The normal operation of the heat pump is rated at 49DB making it one of the noisiest heat pumps on the market. They do feature a ‘silent model’ where the heat pump will heat water slower to reduce the sound. At a rating of 45DB it will remain far from silent.
- Modern Design: Compact and stylish design that fits into contemporary home environments.
How much do Emerald Energy All In One Heat Pumps Cost?
This price generally refers to the supply cost of the heat pump unit only and does not include installation, plumbing, electrical work or delivery.
Typical installed price
In most Australian homes, the fully installed cost for an Emerald All-In-One heat pump usually falls within the following range:
| System size | Typical installed cost (before rebates) |
|---|---|
| 220L | ~$3,500 – $4,500 |
| 270L | ~$3,800 – $4,800 |
| 320L | ~$4,200 – $5,200 |
Actual installation prices can vary depending on:
- plumbing modifications required
- electrical upgrades or dedicated circuits
- distance between the old and new system
- whether the system replaces an electric, gas or solar hot water system
- site accessibility and installation complexity
Price after rebates
Many Emerald heat pumps qualify for federal Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) and may also be eligible for state-based hot water rebates depending on your location.
After rebates, the out-of-pocket cost can often fall between $500 and $2,500 installed, particularly when replacing an electric storage hot water system.

What this means for homeowners
- Select and Split systems provide the more typical entry-level warranty structure.
- Pro increases both tank coverage and labour warranty.
- Ultra is positioned as Emerald’s highest-warranty tier, although it is currently listed as coming soon.
As with most heat pump warranties, coverage usually applies to manufacturing defects in the tank, compressor, electronics and other core components, while labour coverage determines how long installation or service work is covered by the manufacturer.
Pros and Cons of Emerald All-In-One Heat Pump
Pros
- Affordable upfront cost
Competitive upfront cost Emerald’s supply-only pricing typically ranges from around $1,900 to $2,900 depending on the tank size and model tier. - All-in-one design simplifies installation
Because the tank and compressor are integrated into one unit, installation can be faster and less complex than split systems — especially where space or access is limited. - Built-in Wi-Fi and LCD control
All models come with smart control via the Emerald app, plus an on-unit LCD display. You can monitor or adjust the system remotely and set schedules. - 3 programmable timers
Offers flexibility to schedule heating around your solar output or off-peak tariffs — a useful feature not found in all budget systems. - R290 refrigerant
Uses a low-GWP refrigerant (GWP = 3), aligning with current environmental standards and future regulatory trends. - Available in 220L, 270L, and 320L sizes
Covers a wide range of household sizes (from 1–6+ people), with optional electric boosters for colder climates or higher demand.
Cons
- Above-average noise rating
All models are rated at 49 dBA, which is higher than some quieter alternatives. This may be noticeable if installed near bedrooms, living areas, or windows. - Mid-tier warranty coverage
Warranty coverage depends on which model tier you buy. The entry-level Select and Split offer 5 years on parts and 2 years on labour, while the Pro steps up to 7 years on the tank and 5 years on labour. Even at the Pro level, this sits below the longest warranties on the market (10+ years from some premium brands). - Lower heating performance in larger models
Heating power per litre drops in the 320L unit (~8.4 W/L), which may mean slower recovery times compared to the smaller 220L and 270L models. - Lack of extended component protection
Warranty varies significantly by tier The warranty uplift from Select to Pro is meaningful (2 years labour vs 5 years), but buyers who opt for the entry-level Select or Split models will have shorter coverage than most mid-range competitors offer as standard.
Are Emerald Energy All In One Heat Pumps Worth It?
The main considerations for buyers relate to the system’s 49 dBA noise level — which may not suit every installation location — and the warranty coverage, which varies by tier. The entry-level Select offers 5 years on parts and 2 years on labour, while the Pro provides 7 years on the tank and 5 years on labour. Even the Pro tier, however, falls short of the longest warranties in the market.

Reviews from Australians who have installed Emerald Energy Heat Pumps
Looks good and having th copper coils heat up fast.
I'm happy with the appearance of my Emerald heat pump.
From reviews and research this brand seems to be reliable and good quality. 10 year warranty on everything is amazing, peace of mind.
Really easy app to use. Guys who installed helped with the app install and explained it , So easy
So far so good, got the 320 ltr and run it of the solar during the day. Haven’t run out of hot water and the unit seems very quite.
Looks good, Not overly happy with the App. The WIFI also cuts in and out a bit so is a bit average.
Its square profile fits the small area but it's too early to say how efficient it is. It beeps continuously for several hours each day and the manual doesn't explain why this happens. Will have to follow this up with the installer.
The Emerald heat pump is operating as expected, very happy with this product.
The heat pump works great, when it does work. I have nothing but praise for the Emerald brand.
If I could give less than zero I would. Don’t get me wrong it heats the water but at a significant cost. The spilt system that I had installed is rated at 1kw of energy yet consumes over 3kw. It has taken a significant effort to get Emerald to rectify the issues. Firstly they took weeks to acknowledge and get back to me after first closing the issues, there is absolutely now way of ringing and speaking to a person. After months of questions and concerns and help from Hitech I have finally got some sort of help from Emerald. It remains to be seen if it rectifies the problem.
so far so good, connected and connected to solar panels
Looks to be a good 'middle-range' heat pump. Very quiet. Very efficient. Very happy to have the app as well to make the set up (turn on/off during the day to make use of solar) and check the temperature. So happy with the Emerald heat pump.
Just that the controller is loose. Otherwise works very well.
Replaced my gas hot water I cannot tell the difference
this was the brand used by the company. I have nothing to compare it to
The heat pump looks good, although setting up the app took a bit of time, especially with the internet.
I don't know much about the Brands, but it's working and I'm happy with it
