The company was borne from Apricus Australia who have a well-known reputation in solar evacuated tube hot water systems. Reclaim Energy is well-known for designing top quality hot water systems for Australian conditions.

Reclaim Energy’s Model Range in Australia

Reclaim Energy Heat Pump REHP-CO2-315GL

Reclaims product range combines the heat pump with a controller and a separate tank in what’s referred to as a split system.

The heat pump units which perform the heating of water can be paired with either a stainless steel or a glass lined enamel tank. The stainless steel tank is more durable but is not suited to high mineral or bore water applications and comes at a higher cost. Both versions of the hot water tank come in sizes ranges from 160 litres to 400 litres to match the requirements of the household.

MODEL HE-UM60AR Heat Pump

Reclaim Energy GE-UM60AR heat pump manufactured by Panasonic

This model is manufactured by Panasonic and can be connected to Reclaim Energy smart controller v1.1.

The compressor is roughly 67cm by 80cm and requires a standard single phase 240V power supply. This is typically connected directly from the switchboard via on a dedicated circuit with a safety switch.

The compressor has a rated noise level of 37DB which is the lowest rating achieved by any heat pump offered in Australia.

The co-efficient of performance (COP) rating is 6.02 at 32.6°C which compares favourably to most other brands. This rating effectively tells the consumer how efficient the heat pump is at heating water.

The accompanying smart controller would usually be wall mounted near the heat pump and can be used to control the system. The controller has 6 different modes which enable the user to set the time of operation to line up with solar panel production or off-peak energy rates.

MODEL EHPE-4550P-A Heat Pump

Reclaim Energy EHPE-4550P-A heat pump manufactured by Chofu

The model EHPE-4550P-A heat pump is manufactured by leading Japanese company Chofu Seisakusho and feature some impressive performance characteristics. The heat pumps have a coefficient of performance of 6.02 which means the heat output is over 600% of the electricity input. This matches the other heat pump model offered by Reclaim Energy and is unmatched in the market.

One benefit of this heat pump model is that it can be matched with the wifi-enable smart controller v2.0. This means you can monitor and control your heat pump via an accompanying app.

This heat pump is slightly larger and heavier than the Panasonic model HE-UM60AR measuring 68cm by 83cm and weighing 48kg.

Verdict: Is the Reclaim Energy Heat Pump Worth It?

Reclaim Energy’s HE‑UM60AR + 250L system represents a well-engineered, high-efficiency heat pump backed by reputable components and strong warranty coverage. It’s among the quietest on the market and includes one of the most capable smart controllers as standard.

The system sits at the premium end of the market, and its price reflects the quality of its components—Japanese-made heat pump, Australian-made tank—and the backing of a well-established Australian company with national support. For homeowners prioritising long-term reliability, quiet operation, and high energy efficiency—particularly in solar-equipped homes—Reclaim stands out as a leading option.

However, for households where budget is a primary concern, there are more affordable options that may still meet your hot water needs. Reclaim is best suited to homeowners looking for a high-performance, future-proof solution and who value technical sophistication and strong after-sales support.

Bottom line: This is a top-tier system for buyers who want quality and are prepared to invest accordingly. For households with solar, off-peak tariffs, or a focus on long-term energy savings, Reclaim is a smart, future-ready choice.

Have had no issues. Unknown the power it uses, as the solar outperforms it. We always have hot water. It just works hard in the background and have had no problems.

Totally impressed with this brand. Very quiet, you can hardly hear it standing next to it. The water was hot within 2 hours of installation. There is no shortage on cold days even with more than usual usage with guests. I am very satisfied that the extra cost was worth it.

The tank is tall 1990 and impressive. The efficiency seems to be exceptionally good. The compressor is commendably quiet and very appropriate fotr the location and the proximity of the neighbour’s house. The unit produces hot water at all our outlets with a hot tap impressively quickly.

The installer I went with, not recommended by Solar Choice, but recommended by Reclaim Energy, did a nice neat job of the installation, but ignored the installation manual minimum setback of the condenser and the max bends of the pipes, and seems to have done a switcheroo in that I thought I was ordering the Reclaim SS tank, which is designed for their system, and instead got another one, which has compromises. The Hot Out is not at the top, so the top 1/5 of the tank is wasted. I have to heat it up prior to the hot water in the stratified tank falling low enough to encounter the Hot Out where he plumbed it. Reclaim Energy is confusing on that issue. They list the tank I ended up with in a PDF on their WEB site, with some measurements which do indicate that the HotOut is at the height as plumbed, but then the same table has two other connections at a tank height where only one port exists. The Earthworks Reclaim WEB site has glossy PDFs of versions of the tank I received, each with differing HotOut selections. I am left confused, disappointed, and annoyed. Other than that, it works great! Oh, much less hot water than I used to have. Takes forever running cold to get any warm, wasting water and putting undue stress on my Enviro cycle Poo Farm, which gets sick if too much water flows into it.
