At a Glance: Reclaim Energy HE‑UM60AR + 250L Review
Scores 4.75 Out of 5
Scoring is based on our heat pump scorecard, which is consistently applied to each brand and model in the Australian heat pump market.
$$$$$ Price: The HE‑UM60AR + 250L sits in the highest cost bracket on the Solar Choice scorecard. Public retailer pricing commonly places installed systems above A$5,000, with premium stainless variants often much higher.
- Company Backing & Trustworthiness – 4/5: Reclaim Energy is an Australian heat pump specialist based in Byron Bay, NSW, with local support and a national dealer network. The brand draws on more than 15 years of renewable hot water experience in Australia through the broader business behind Reclaim, while the current Reclaim Energy Pty Limited entity has been active since 2017. This gives Reclaim strong specialist credibility, although it is still smaller and less diversified than the biggest hot water manufacturers.
- Warranty Offer – 5/5: Offers 15 years pro-rata on the stainless steel tank (full 6 years, then pro-rata to 15), 10 years on the Wi-Fi heat pump and controller, and 5–10 years on labour depending on component. Above industry standard component-level warranties with generous coverage on key system parts.
- Customer Reviews – 5/5: Reclaim Energy has exceptionally strong customer review sentiment. Solar Choice currently shows 4.88 out of 5 from 26 customer reviews, and ProductReview shows 4.9 out of 5 from 95 reviews, which supports a top-tier score in this category.
- Functionality: – 5/5: Quiet 37 dB(A) operation, 2-zone programmable timer, LCD & WiFi-enabled smart controller, and 16.0 W/L heating power for fast hot water recovery. One of the more advanced systems available in the Australian market.
Please note: The Solar Choice scorecard reflects our independent scoring methodology. Customers are encouraged to consider their own circumstances and research before making a decision.
Reclaim Energy – Company Background
The business appears to operate through related Australian entities. Reclaim’s website footer identifies Solar Thermal Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 11 160 959 802) as the company behind the Reclaim Energy brand, while the Australian Business Register lists Reclaim Energy Pty Limited (ABN 90 619 559 536) as an active Australian private company from 6 June 2017, based in NSW 2481.
This helps explain why Reclaim refers to 15+ years of experience in its marketing: that figure appears to reflect the broader renewable hot water experience behind the brand, rather than just the age of the Reclaim Energy Pty Limited registration. In practical terms, Reclaim looks like an established Australian specialist brand with more than five years of operating history, but it is still smaller and less diversified than the biggest multinational hot water manufacturers. That supports a strong, but not top-tier, score in this category.

Verdict: Is the Reclaim Energy Heat Pump Worth It?
Reclaim Energy’s HE‑UM60AR + 250L system represents a well-engineered, high-efficiency heat pump backed by reputable components and strong warranty coverage. It’s among the quietest on the market and includes one of the most capable smart controllers as standard.
The system sits at the premium end of the market, and its price reflects the quality of its components—Japanese-made heat pump, Australian-made tank—and the backing of a well-established Australian company with national support. For homeowners prioritising long-term reliability, quiet operation, and high energy efficiency—particularly in solar-equipped homes—Reclaim stands out as a leading option.
However, for households where budget is a primary concern, there are more affordable options that may still meet your hot water needs. Reclaim is best suited to homeowners looking for a high-performance, future-proof solution and who value technical sophistication and strong after-sales support.
Bottom line: This is a top-tier system for buyers who want quality and are prepared to invest accordingly. For households with solar, off-peak tariffs, or a focus on long-term energy savings, Reclaim is a smart, future-ready choice.

THE appearance and functionality of the Reclaim heat pump is Very Good.
Only one very small quibble: the stickers were placed at a slight angle to the axis of the tank.
Excellent - works well and it's really quiet.
Very happy with Reclaim unit. Amazingly energy efficient.
Have had no issues. Unknown the power it uses, as the solar outperforms it. We always have hot water. It just works hard in the background and have had no problems.
Totally impressed with this brand. Very quiet, you can hardly hear it standing next to it. The water was hot within 2 hours of installation. There is no shortage on cold days even with more than usual usage with guests. I am very satisfied that the extra cost was worth it.
The tank is tall 1990 and impressive. The efficiency seems to be exceptionally good. The compressor is commendably quiet and very appropriate fotr the location and the proximity of the neighbour’s house. The unit produces hot water at all our outlets with a hot tap impressively quickly.
Looks good, fits the fairly tight space perfectly, very neat installation, very quiet, works very well.

Chosen for reputation and quietness of heat pump; we are delighted with the installation which is as advertised.
