BEWARE: Hidden Clauses and Zero Professionalism 1. October 15, 2025: Ryde Energy promised in an email that my installation was a "Booked" for December 23, 2025. 2. December 18, 2025: I called them to check. I sent all photos they asked for. They said "OK" and everything was ready. Installation team will come around 8am on 23.12.25 3. December 23, 2025 (Installation Day): They did not come and did not call me. I was waiting at my house in Brisbane and had to call them at 9:23 AM. The receptionist girl was rude, she said “I will hand up on you...” then said the date was cancelled and moved it to 22 – 26 January 2026. I asked for my money back immediately. 4. December 24, 2025: Ryde Energy lied in their email. They said I wanted to move to Cairns so that is why I cancelled. This is a big lie to stop my refund. I sent an email back saying this was not true. 5. January 5-6, 2026: Ryde Energy refused to refund my money. They used a hidden rule (Clause 4.1a) from a 44-page website link I never signed or accepted. 6. January 6, 2026: I have asked them twice for proof I signed/accepted proposal. They failed to provide me evidence. They are being dishonest to keep my $1,145. If you value your time and your money, avoid this company. They will leave you waiting for months and then use fine print to refuse your refund. Formal complaints have been lodged with OFT QLD and the ACCC.

Ryde Energy 30kw battery - paid $686 deposit after they said 4 weeks installation. Then they rang and said 10 weeks away. I am new to all of these batteries so I saw the previous company I signed up for offering a 50kw battery for $7200 installed. I asked if they could match it, they couldn't so I went with VoltX and asked for a refund. "Company policy is no refunds". VoltX gave me a refund no questions asked. I don't know of any company in 2025 who would keep $686 for doing nothing, still 6 weeks away from my booking, plenty of time to change it to someone else. They said they were all booked up and selling heaps of batteries. It's just bullshit. Un Australian. VoltX refunded after weeks. If you put a deposit on a car even a bloody used car salesman gives you your deposit back. I read some product reviews which I should of done earlier but I heard an Australian and thought I can trust him. Looks like you earn a tidy income by keeping people's deposit money. 1 person said 1-2 days and they flat out refused. Unbelievable. Companies policies don't excuse them from treating others the way they would like to be treated if they were a customer themselves. I have nothing in writing with any dates. I am thinking that is probably intentional because I read a few where no one turned up on the day planned. Ryde Energy installed a solar panel system on my house about 13 months ago. Since the installation, my washing machine has not been working during the day while the solar panels are operating. However, it works perfectly fine at night when the solar panels are off. I contacted Ryde Energy to report the issue, and they sent someone to inspect it. Unfortunately, the problem was not fixed. A week later, I received a $250 invoice. When I asked about it, they said it was for changing the hot water timer — even though the original problem with my washing machine was never resolved. Despite my repeated requests, Ryde Energy has never come back to fix the issue. I even replaced my washing machine, but the same problem continues. Instead of solving the issue, they continue to demand payment for the $250 bills. Their customer service has been rude and unprofessional throughout this process. Please do not go with this rude and unprofessional company.

From 5 Stars to 1 Star – A Deeply Disappointing Experience with Ryde Energy I’ve previously been one of Ryde Energy’s strongest supporters, leaving multiple 5-star reviews in the past following their previous work. Unfortunately, my most recent experience with them has completely changed my view of the company. 1. Unexplained Delays – After paying my deposit, I waited 10.5 weeks (over 2.5 months) for installation. At no stage was this delay communicated upfront. I later found out the cause was a supply issue on Ryde’s end, but the lack of transparency or proactive communication during that time was unacceptable. 2. Missed Installation Date – After finally being given an installation date, I took a full day off work (and lost a day’s income) to be available, only for Ryde Energy to not show up. When I called, they admitted they had booked the installation for the wrong customer. I requested some form of goodwill gesture or compensation for my lost wages, but this was flatly refused. The Customer Service representative even compared my situation to “taking days off for sick kids,” which was dismissive and completely inappropriate given Ryde’s failure to turn up as contracted. 3. Incorrect Installation – When the battery was eventually installed, it was wired incorrectly. As a result, the battery did not charge for a week until Ryde Energy returned to fix the mistake. 4. Property Damage – During the installation, my home’s brickwork was damaged. I provided photographic evidence and asked Ryde Energy to repair it, but they denied responsibility and dismissed it as “flaking bricks.” I now have to pay for repairs myself. Overall, this has been a very poor customer experience. I’ve been left out of pocket through lost earnings and property damage, on top of enduring long delays, a missed installation, and incorrect wiring. The lack of accountability and absence of even a basic goodwill gesture only added insult to injury. Ryde Energy has gone from being a company I once strongly promoted to one I cannot recommend. Overall rating: 1 star.
