Reviews from Australians who have installed iStore Heat Pumps
So far, so good with the heat pump. (2 weeks since installation)
We wanted to get the Evoheat 270 as we'd had it before and loved it. Same Day Hot Water talked us into getting this one and I am so annoyed that I did. Dont get me wrong, this a perfectly adequate system, but it is a much, much MUCH poorer cousin to the identically (but functionally much more superior) Evoheat. If I had the money I'd sell this one second hand and upgrade to the Evoheat. It really wasn't that much more. To be honest knowing what I know now a out the iStore, I would have paid twice the price to get the Evoheat. Just annoyed at myself that I didnt follow my gut. The installer (Same Day Hot Water) was great.
It's a lot bigger than our old instantaneous gas water heater but is working well with 4 adults in the house. No problems and it seems to be living up to the reviews of being a good quality option at relatively low cost.
After 3 months, not getting hot water to all outlets.
Good heat pump that has consistently provided hot water without issue since installation. If I was picky I'd say it's a pity there is no holiday mode so it either runs while you are away or you have to turn the whole thing off. But this is nice to have no must have.
it is early days yet but it all seems good
Too early to tell yet, just installed this week but seems to be doing the job - excellent temperature, great water pressure, screen easy to read, a tiny bit loud when reheating but I am very sensitive to noise. Great reviews, let's hope it lasts the distance!
Hot water when we need it. Heat pump is quiet.
Well designed and good construction- It is working well and it looks good
The Installation was fine, and the iStore 270L seems to be delivering the savings as advertised... except... At the same time as the Heat Pump was installed we had Solar Panels fitted, along with a Fronius Inverter. The Fronius Inverter now allows me to get a very good idea of how/when electricity is being used. Checking on the Heat Pump has shown me that when we are here all the time the Heat Pump runs every day - it's winter, so it runs for about 2+ hours. Fair enough. But when we are not here (ie away on holiday or similar), it still runs every other day, and for a not much shorter period. I am really surprised that when NO hot water is used, that it still runs every other day. ie Heat loss through tank insulation causes running every other day. I've asked iStore about tank insulation, but never got a reply.
So far it’s great! A big unit but as it’s a tank and compressor combined, I think that’s expected. It’s working well and we’ve now got plenty of hot water.
We installed the iStore 270L with Solargain 6 months ago. Has not skipped a beat. It's easy to change settings so that it's heating when we want it to, for us during the day when solar powers it for free. It runs for about an 45 minutes each day to cover 2 showers a day for me and my partner. Zero suggestion it wouldn't keep if we massively increased hot water consumption with a baby on the way. It does make some noise, as all heat pump systems do, but when I'm in the room next to it, the split system heater inside makes more noise.
No problems so far
I’m happy
Yes so far.
Very happy with heat pump.

Value for money. Did my homework and COP rating of 4.8 was high for the price (R290 refrigerant) only comes on for 2hrs average during the peak of winter, only two person household but wife likes to have baths. I’ve self insulated anode and lower drainage holes to keep heat in unit. Also added additional insulation to piping exiting the unit which is located on the north facing side of house. During summer last few months after install only came on every 2nd day and hot water was sufficient. Set timer to come on at 1240 and turn off at 1700 when air temperature is at highest. Totally happy as installed induction cooktop and heat home with reverse cycle aircon, so cut off gas to home now only one supply and account fee now. Saving $300 average a year (WA). Did a comparison with gas bill for last summer period and estimated that we’re paying $66 in gas alone to heat 180ltr gas storage (Gas was only used to heat HWS) and $26 with heat pump. No brainer. Pay itself off in 4.5 years. Secret is to pay to have it serviced every 3years as I have learnt with other storage systems is the anode goes the welds will go quick then it’s a whole new unit. Was quoted in Dec 2024 a gas storage was $2300 180ltr, as it only had a 7 year life span and I replaced the anode 2 years before. Thermocouple I was told was broken and cost of replacing was $320. So I lived with it for 3 months of relighting pilot burner every day.
