Fronius offering 10 year warranty on inverters until end of 2014

Fronius Australia is offering free extended warranties on its inverters until the end of the year, according to a recent press release from the company. Those who have a solar PV system installed with a Fronius inverter before 31 December 2014 will be eligible for an additional 5 years of warranty coverage on top of the 5 years that come standard. The promotion is similar to the one offered by the company in 2012.

Warranty duration is one of the key considerations that any home or business thinking about going solar should keep in mind. Solar panels come with a standard manufacturers warranty of 25 years plus a product warranty (usually through the solar installation company) of about 10 years. Inverters, being the workhorses of any solar PV system, generally have shorter lifespans; anyone going solar should expect to replace their inverter 2-3 times over the course of the system’s life. As such, standard inverter warranties are much shorter, at 5 years–although the devices can generally be expected to operate for an further 2-3 once the warranty expires.

Fronus’ extended warranty offer, in covering a full 10 years, will provided added peace of mind for those who decide to go ahead with a system that uses one of the company’s inverters. Those who have a Fronius inverter and wish to take advantage of the offer must register their product. More information can be found on the Fronius Australia website.

    1. Inverter prices vary between companies and change over time, but anywhere between $2,500 to $5,000 for a residential system up to 3 or 5kW in capacity. We don’t have specific pricing on Fronius inverters, however – best to speak to them directly about it.
