How We Make Money
Solar Choice has designed a process where we can provide end to end assistance to homeowners and businesses without charging them a fee. This is how it works.
Residential
Through Solar Choice’s online quote comparison tool each customer has the option to select or be provided with up to 3 installers to provide a quote to them. These installers pay Solar Choice a small fee for the introduction. Importantly, there are no additional fees or commissions charged to the customer if they purchase. This model allows us to remain free to the consumer while aligning interests with facilitating good installer choices.
Commercial
Solar Choice provides business cases and tender management to businesses and strata projects through a broker model. If an installer is successful in winning a project through Solar Choice’s introduction, then they will pay Solar Choice a fee which is typically 5% of the project value. Importantly all installers that Solar Choice work with are on the same terms, so we have no financial incentive to promote on installer over another. This enables us to provide impartial advice to our clients.
Strata Projects
Due to the additional complexities and effort required to assess a residential strata building, Solar Choice charges an upfront fee to complete a business case assessment and feasibility study. This supports a detailed analysis and recommendation of multiple options and is informed by a survey across owners within the strata scheme.

Founded in 2008, Solar Choice began with the goal of providing Australian solar-energy consumers with market transparency and the tools to compare and choose. Over time we have built a nationwide installer network, created proprietary software to power our quote comparison tool, and supported thousands of homes and commercial clients in making confident clean-energy decisions.
Our installer network
Over the years Solar Choice has vetted over 1,000 installers across Australia to develop our curated list of installers that we are comfortable introducing to customers. Hundreds of installers apply to be part of Solar Choice’s network every year and our team is careful to select the best companies to support our brand and consistently deliver great outcomes for our customers.
We vet each company’s licenses, product quality, trading history and real world customer feedback before including an installer in our network.
