About Solar Run
Solar Run is bringing homeowners a simple, affordable way to power their homes with the sun, and to get control back of their energy. Our passion is to help Australians become more energy independent. The entire process was very easy Tim and Jenny are very good at explaining things and the installers were just as helpful with any questions I asked . I can’t recommend them highly enough great job all round and I’m very satisfied with there work
Deceitful and Unprofessional
Solar Run is the usual slick sales driven company of "Yes" men with poor attention to client needs. The HWS option they proposed was too large diameter and after a month of delay I was told to source one myself which I did through Ecogenica only to have them backflip and tell me they would do it. Original invoicing and POS contract did not include the $1000 HWS rebate as they said I was inelligible. Another quote seemed to indicate I was so I successfully applied but was never reimbursed that money. Attempts to reach a fair resolution with the installer failed and has resulted in an ongoing investigation through Solar Victoria. I was threatened that if I did not pay up in full on completion that they would withhold meter upgrade with Jemena. So I paid up for expediency and continue my claim. For a company that prides itself on choosing reputable installers I was very disappointed with Solar Choice. I was informed that Solar Run Lara had their own team of installers but this was not the case with the HWS which was subcontracted. The subcontractors installation I felt was untidy but Solar Run did nothing to advocate for their client. Solar Run also left old HWS piping hanging off the wall and draped over air- con ducting in the ceiling, leaving me to clamber under the ceiling and retrieve it and save it from puncturing the ducting despite removing old HWS and panels was in the contract. Apparently this did not extend to pipe work! Despite requests for the HWS warranty details it seems after sales service is not their priority as over a month later still no warranty paper work supplied. Another issue involved battery positioning on decking boards which the inspector enforced an ugly concrete sheet to be placed underneath despite repeated unanswerred queries prior to install if I should have the boards cut to allow the battery to sit on concrete base underneath. So the selling pitch of being a very experienced installer clearly was not evident. A very frustrating process where HWS rebates and recs were not included on the POS contract nor initial invoicing only to appear on later invoicing by increasing the system price to show the same amount owing. (Currently being pursued). If you think underquoting is a disease in Solar Quoting then please avoid companies that display such behaviour.
Solar Panel - JA Solar
Have yet to experience summer output and have 5 south facing panels so panel output still being evaluated. Choice was a competitors matching.
Solar Inverter - Sungrow
Looks neat. Appears to function well. Not qualified to comment on efficiency etc. Monitoring app is great with Sungrows iSolar Cloud.
Battery - Sungrow
Great monitoring app. Yet to fully understand how I can configure it but seems to be doing the job of saving me peak grid purchased energy, and prioritises house usage before export.
Heat Pump - Ecogenica
215L Heat pump doing a fantastic job in winter to supply a household of 4. Efficient and quiet and small tank fits my side path.
Sales process fine
Review left 2 years after system installed
Sales process fine, we did not choose the least expensive quote, rather we also took additional factors into consideration. Their delivery and post-installation support has been consistently first rate. I do not know how many people work for Solar Run, I suspect that there were less than 50 characters serving our area. We did not have more than 5 involved in the entire process.
Battery - SolarEdge

Solar does not perform anywhere near what was proposed. Solar was meant to be able to except batteries at a latter date now i am told would need to change inverter.

Very helpful and informative, willing to help with some minor issues . Never felt remote and are there if and when we need.
Solar Panel -
Seem to be working to full capacity
The installation went smoothly & easily. It was all done in 2 days. Last minute I asked to add 8 more panels & it was no trouble at all. Sam organized it & the new panels were there within a couple of hours & being installed. The 2 installers & electrician were lovely. Quick & efficient. I am very happy with everything & would definitely recommend this company.
Solar Panel - Risen
I have had the system on for 4 days so I can't really give a good comment. All I can say is I'm very happy with the panels so far. Everything is working as it should.
Solar Inverter - Goodwe
I have a Goodwe Inverter & an Alpha Inverter. They're working really well. Quite small & compact. Very neat looking. The apps for the 2 inverters are really good!
Battery - Alpha ESS
The 10KW battery is very compact, unobtrusive & looks good. The house uses the power from the battery all night & starts recharging at this time of year around 8am.
Very professional in knowledge of products upfront on costs and generation of unit had answers to all our questions and arranged monitoring system
fast and efficient communication. The salesman even came out to explain all the questions I had and showed me exactly where everything would be going. Only 6 weeks from initial contact until installation. The electrical inspector was the tardy one. It took another 6 weeks before he came to inspect and issue the compliance certificate, but he left my system with a fault that I am unable to rectify, so I now have to call on the installer to return and fix the fault !!
Solar Inverter - SolaX
I don't know yet. I have to wait until the fault is fixed. It was working well until the inspector came to inspect.
The installation required optimisers on each panel due to shading and different orientations on the roof. The cabling was carefully concealed, the software and app was explained to me fully, and everything went as planned. The SolarEdge inverter and associated monitoring is working perfectly, and the system output is exactly as predicted by Solar Run, as is the self-consumption/export split. The company rep, Dirk, was honest in not trying to sell me a battery nor running the off-peak hot water circuit off our solar power, but has left those options open for later down the track if financial considerations change.
Solar Panel - EGing
Output is as expected - the 370W panels are well constructed and their output is also very good considering shading and orientation at this time of the year (installed in June).
The pricing was competitive and the company was prepared to give me the panels and inverter of my choice, largely influenced by your information, at a reasonable extra cost. Installation was expeditious and a need to resite two panels to avoid rain run-off was rapidly accomplished. The array has meen working satisfactorily since installation and I am aware of the output via my app.
