Hume’s IT manager initially approached Solar Choice in November 2013 with the aim of obtaining impartial advice on solar for a site in Lansvale, NSW.
A business case wad composed by the Solar Choice team, but due to the Lansvale location’s low electricity rates, the client determined that there was not yet a compelling reason to have solar installed.
However, the company’s national reach and strong appetite for solar meant that they still wanted to explore solar as an option for one of their Perth sites, so Solar Choice set up a new project for this location in its commercial tender management platform and presented the client with a selection of installer options.
Soon after Solar Choice’s in-house engineer completed the business case for this location, it was abundantly clear that the returns would be much more attractive than those for the company’s Lansvale site, with an ROI of under 4 years – and cash flow positive from the first year.
After extensive discussions with Solar Choice and serious deliberation over installer options, the client utlimately settled on a 100kw system using ReneSola solar panels and ABB inverters. The system was installed earlier this year.
